Choosing Your ENSIS MANIAC Foil

Choosing the right foil can feel overwhelming. With so many options available, it’s natural to second-guess your decision, especially when many foils are incredibly versatile and perform well across different disciplines. That versatility is part of what makes the decision so tough. With the recent launch of our ENSIS MANIAC range, we introduced four distinct lines and a total of 13 front wings, each designed with specific riding styles in mind. And with more on the way, we thought this would be a good time to break down the range and use cases, to help you find your next foil.

INFINITY ACE

The MANIAC INFINITY ACE is our fun, fast, and agile foil, designed as the go-to wing foil for intermediate to expert riders. With a mid-to-high aspect ratio and a smooth, direct feel thanks to the ACE monobloc construction, it strikes a balance of glide, lift, and control. Available in five sizes, it’s incredibly versatile and responsive, making it a great all-round choice across several disciplines.

690 and 840WING, KITE, TOW

These smaller sizes are ideal for experienced wing foilers looking to freeride, freestyle, or ride waves. They also shine in kite foiling and tow foiling behind a boat, offering tight control and playful responsiveness.

990 and 1140WING, PARAWING, PRONE FOIL

While still playful, these sizes offer more span, giving you greater glide, lift, and pumping efficiency. They’re great options for intermediate wing foilers wanting to progress in lighter wind conditions. For prone foilers, the added glide makes connecting swell easier while maintaining a controlled feel. The 1140 also stands out for experienced parawinging and downwind riders, especially those looking to carve up lake or ocean swell.

1390WING, PARAWING, DOWNWIND

The largest of the INFINITY line, the 1390 is a light wind wingfoiling free ride standout. Despite its size, it still offers a fun, maneuverable ride. It’s especially well suited for parawinging and SUP downwinders, where easy lift and early takeoff are key.

PACER

The MANIAC PACER is designed for beginners and progressing riders who want a foil that’s easy, stable, and confidence-inspiring. It offers early, low-speed lift, smooth gliding, and easy pumping, with excellent stall resistance. Available in five sizes, the PACER is best suited for wing foiling, but it’s also a solid choice for beginner parawing and low-speed learning environments.

950, 1250, 1550WING

These mid-sized PACERs deliver balanced performance for newer riders looking to advance. They offer smooth lift, great stability, and predictable control. Ideal for weekend riders or progressing intermediates. They’re also a great choice for lighter riders and kids starting their foil journey.

1850, 2200WING, SCHOOLS

These are the largest and most stable sizes in the range, with excellent low-speed lift and high stability. They’re the best choice for absolute beginners, and are especially well suited for schools, rental fleets, or anyone prioritizing an easy learning experience.

STRIDE

The STRIDE is our dedicated high-aspect pump foil, designed for dock starts, flatwater SUP foiling, and smooth, efficient pumping. Whether you’re gliding across glassy lakes or chasing boat wakes, the STRIDE keeps you flying with minimal effort. The range launched with one size.

2050DOCKSTART, SUP FOIL, PUMP FOIL, WAKE THIEVING

With the widest wingspan in the MANIAC range (for now), the STRIDE 2050 delivers exceptional glide, early lift, and smooth, consistent pumpability. It’s ideal for beginners learning to pump foil as well as experienced riders looking to maximise their time on foil. Its stable, forgiving feel also makes it a top pick for learning flatwater SUP foiling.

STRIDE ACE

The MANIAC STRIDE ACE is our zero-compromise, high-aspect foil built for long glides, efficiency, and exploration. Featuring the ACE monobloc construction, it offers a smooth ride with a direct, rigid connection. The STRIDE ACE launched with two sizes, ideal for downwinding, pump foiling, and flatwater cruising.

1360LIGHTWIND WING, PARAWING, DOWNWIND

Designed for intermediate to expert riders who want a foil that glides effortlessly and still carves with precision. The 1360 is a go-to for lightwind wing foiling and for intermediate downwinders in small to medium bumps. It also suits experienced pump foilers looking for faster, more efficient flights.

1740 DOCKSTART, PUMP FOIL, PARAWING, DOWNWIND

With added span and lift, the 1740 is ideal for ambitious beginners through to expert pump foilers. It’s also a great choice for learning parawinging, and for flatwater SUP foiling at a more advanced entry level. Its forgiving nature makes it a solid step up for riders exploring long-distance pumping or lightwind downwind adventures.

How to Choose the Right Foil

Before deciding, take a moment to consider three key factors:

Your primary use case. Will you be freeriding, downwinding, pumping, or just starting out?
Your riding level. Are you a complete beginner, progressing intermediate, or experienced rider?
Where you’ll be riding. Flatwater, waves, lakes, or lightwind spots?

Once you have these dialed in, matching them to the right foil becomes much easier. If you’re unsure, reach out to a local shop for a demo or expert advice.
