ENSIS EngadinWing 2024 Recap

This past week, despite the bitter cold, the ENSIS EngadinWing was a major success. The event had a great turnout, with riders from across Europe making their way to the crystal-clear mountain lake of Silvaplana, Switzerland, ready to battle for the title of European Champion in the first European Formula Wing Championship, hosted by the WINGFOILRACING team. The clash of the foil disciplines, the Best of Three, a multi-discipline foil freestyle event and exhibition, made an epic return. The event’s atmosphere was tense, exhilarating and fun, with spectators and competitors alike braving the cold to watch and compete in a week of non-stop foiling action. Here is what happened:

2024 Formula Wing European Championships

The ENSIS EngadinWing 2024 kicked off on the 11th of June, opening up registration for the European Championship. During registration, riders immediately faced some difficult decisions because the Formula Wing is a new sailing class that debuted this year. The main difference is that gear choice is limited, and riders have to carefully choose their gear before the event even starts.

Riders are limited to one foil mast, two front foil sizes, and three wings: one bigger than 6m, one between 5m and 6m, and one smaller than 5m. With the unpredictable wind conditions of mountain lakes, this was a very important decision.

It was a week of fierce competition, with the outcome uncertain until the very last race concluded at the end of the week. Devin Hauser, Dani Wenger, Ramon Scheuber, Keanu Lenzin and Sol DeGrieck epresented ENSIS in the wingfoil races, pushing themselves and enduring the cold throughout. Thank you.

Big congrats to Dani Wenger (2nd) and Ramon Scheuber (3rd) for their podium positions in the U16 category.

The “BEST OF 3” is back

On the final day of the ENSIS ENGADIN 2024, the “Best of Three” event made an epic return, bringing together the three foil disciplines: kite foiling, wing foiling, and windsurf foiling, in a foil freestyle showdown. Spectators were treated to an epic display of aerial manoeuvres, flipping and riders flying through the air. The event showcased the incredible versatility of foiling and riders showed the sheer excitement and passion for foiling. Check out the video of the action!

ENSIS Team Riders Balz Müller, Michi Näf, Dani Wenger, Eva Nora and Laura Rudolph represented ENSIS in the best of 3 freestyle battle. Here are the final results of all team ENSIS riders:

Never a dull moment – see you at the next one!

Even when there was no wind, there was plenty of fun to be had, with pump foiling, flat water SUP foiling, and enjoying the company of other passionate foilers surrounded by gorgeous mountains.

With the ENSIS booth set up with equipment for all conditions, those at the event had the opportunity to try out and play with the latest gear and foils. If you couldn’t make it this year, you missed out, but hopefully, we’ll see you at the next one! See you there!

Thank you to all the ENSIS TEAM at the event, we appreciate your passion, enthusiasm and stoke on the water!
