At just 14 years old, Ryder Rousseau is already charging. Born in Zimbabwe and now based in South Africa, Ryder discovered wingfoiling two years ago after watching riders out on the water in Langebaan. That was all it took. One look at the wings flying across the lagoon and he knew he had to try it.

Fast forward two years and Ryder is spending as much time on the water as possible, pushing his riding and soaking up every windy day he can get.

Langebaan, a Wingfoiling Playground Paradise

These days you will usually find Ryder riding in Langebaan, one of South Africa’s most well known wingfoiling spots. It is the perfect playground for progression, with strong wind and flat water that lets riders go fast, boost high and keep trying new things.

And that is exactly what Ryder loves most about wingfoiling - jumping big and sending it when the wind picks up. When the lagoon turns into a windy playground, he is out there trying to go higher and push his riding a little further every session.

Eyes on Racing

While big jumps are always on the menu, Ryder is also setting his sights on racing. This season he plans to line up at several major events including the Defi Wing, UKWA, BKSA and the Youth Worlds.

It is an exciting step for a young rider and a great opportunity to gain experience racing against other talented wingfoilers from around the world.

Along the way he is also working on new tricks, with the Palau 360 and front loop high on his list.

Supporting the Next Generation

At ENSIS we love supporting young riders who are passionate about the sport and motivated to improve. The next generation of wingfoilers is what keeps the sport moving forward, and it is always inspiring to see young riders pushing themselves and chasing new goals on the water.

We are stoked to welcome Ryder to the ENSIS team and excited to follow his journey as he gains more experience, enters more races and keeps progressing. With his energy, motivation and love for windy days, we have a feeling this is just the beginning.
