Finding your pumping rhythm starts with a setup you can trust. While your front wing generates lift and glide, the mast plays an essential role in transferring your movements to the foil. Its length, stiffness, weight and hydrodynamic profile, including thickness and chord length, all influence how efficiently and precisely your foil responds.
Whether you are learning your first dock starts, progressing towards longer distances or pushing your personal limits, choosing the right mast can make a real difference.
The ENSIS MANIAC range offers three distinct mast designs based on two materials: aluminium and carbon. While the aluminium mast focuses on durability and value, the two carbon masts differ in both construction and hydrodynamic shape. The MANIAC Carbon Mast features a 16 mm High Modulus carbon profile, while the MANIAC ACE Mast combines an ultra-thin, tapered 12.8 mm profile with a 100% solid Ultra High Modulus carbon construction.
Each design offers its own balance of stiffness, weight, efficiency and performance to suit different riding styles and goals.

Start with the Right Length
Mast length affects how much space you have between the board and the foil. A shorter mast keeps you closer to the water and responds quickly to your input. A longer mast provides more clearance in chop and more vertical room before the front wing reaches the surface, but also requires deeper water.
For flatwater pump foiling, the 72 cm MANIAC Aluminium Mast and 75 cm MANIAC Carbon Mast offer an excellent balance of control, responsiveness and clearance.
Consider your launch spot, water depth and other foiling disciplines. Check that the complete foil has enough clearance throughout your start and pumping movement. Extra mast length is useful when your conditions call for it. It does not automatically make pumping easier.

MANIAC Aluminium Mast: Strong, Accessible and Ready to Progress
The MANIAC Aluminium Mast combines a robust construction with good stiffness and an accessible price. Its rigid connection to the foil helps create a predictable feel as you practice starts and develop a consistent pumping rhythm.
It is a strong choice for beginners, schools and riders who value durability and performance for their budget. Its stiffness also makes it interesting for pump foilers using larger front wings with generous spans. Experienced riders can equally appreciate a dependable aluminium setup for regular sessions.
The MANIAC Aluminium Mast is also available in 52 cm and 62 cm. Choose 52 cm for shallow-water learning and first take-offs, especially in wing foil schools. The 62 cm version offers more clearance while keeping you close to the water, making it a good choice for learning and progressing in shallow water. Both shorter options leave less vertical room for pumping than the 72 cm version.
For dedicated pump foiling, the 72 cm version is the natural option in the range. Choose aluminium if you want a solid foundation for learning and plenty of room to progress.

MANIAC Carbon Mast: Lightweight and Precise Control
The MANIAC Carbon Mast combines High Modulus carbon construction with an efficient 16 mm profile. Its combination of low weight and stiffness creates a responsive connection between your feet and the foil, with controlled bending and twisting under load.
For riders developing longer pumping runs, this light, direct feel can be a welcome refinement. The mast suits progressing to expert pump foilers who want a lightweight setup with versatile everyday performance.
The 75 cm version is the main pump foiling choice. The 85 cm option offers more clearance for disciplines such as wing and parawing foiling. Choose the length for your main use, especially if the mast will serve several setups.

MANIAC ACE Mast: Maximum Performance for Expert Pump Foilers
The MANIAC ACE Mast represents the next level of hydrodynamic performance.
Built from 100% solid Ultra High Modulus carbon, it features a tapered design with an exceptionally thin 12.8 mm lower profile and a narrower chord compared with the standard MANIAC Carbon Mast. The lower section is approximately 20% thinner than the 16 mm MANIAC Carbon Mast. Combined with its optimized profile shape, this reduces resistance through the water, allowing the foil to glide more freely. Compared with the standard MANIAC Carbon Mast, the MANIAC ACE Mast prioritizes reduced drag and maximum efficiency over ultimate stiffness.
It is particularly interesting for riders already comfortable pumping smaller, performance-oriented front wings, such as the STRIDE ACE Front Wing in size 1360 or the FLOW ACE Front Wing range.
IMPORTANT — MANIAC ACE Mast Pump Foiling Restrictions
For pump foiling, the MANIAC ACE Mast may only be used in the 76 cm length and with front wings with a maximum wingspan of 1100 mm. The MANIAC ACE Mast in 86 cm and 96 cm must not be used for pump foiling.
