High up in the beautiful Swiss mountains, the ENSIS ENGADIN Marathon race takes place. This long-running event brings together various sailing disciplines to race on Lake Silvaplana. Sailboats, windsurfers, kitesurfers, and most importantly, wingfoilers all share a start line to race around the lake. All participants competed on foils, making it essentially a foil marathon race. ENSIS Team riders Michi Näf and Balz Müller took to the water to represent ENSIS and ultimately shared the podium.
The Race
Competitors raced around the entire lake, with both upwind and downwind legs. Over 100 competitors started simultaneously in a rabbit start (staggered start line), creating excitement for everyone involved. It was incredible to see so many people on the water. Although the wind was incredibly light, it didn’t stop the race from happening.
Wingfoil Team Rivalry
Just before the race started, the wind dropped significantly, creating a tough situation for Michi and Balz. They only had one 6m wing available onshore, and Balz quickly grabbed it before Michi could. This set the stage for an exciting battle between the two teammates. The race was neck and neck, but in the end, Balz secured first place, with Michi sharing the podium in second.
See You at the Next One!
It’s always incredible to see the passion and enthusiasm that the watersports community has. The 47th ENGADIN Marathon race was a major success, and we look forward to the next one. We hope to see you there! Thanks to the ENSIS team for showing their support and participating in the event, and a huge congratulations to Balz and Michi for their podium finishes.
