Levi Lenz is a true waterman. Growing up in Northern Brazil, he was surrounded by waves, wind, and warm water. It wasn’t long before he found his place in the ocean. With roots in windsurfing, he has since fallen deeply for foiling. Now he spends nearly every day on the water, chasing waves and carving with a style that is unmistakably his own.

Home in Northern Brazil

Levi’s home is Icaraizinho de Amontada, a small town on Brazil’s northeast coast. “Last year, I sailed pretty much the whole year,” he says. “There’s no low season for the foil. Even when the wind drops, we have waves. In Icaraizinho, we have flat water at low tide, point breaks at medium to high tide, and beach breaks. During high season, the downwinders are the best. We do 15 to 20 kilometers with endless bumps to carve.”

Mixing Disciplines

When it comes to foiling, Levi doesn’t limit himself to just one discipline. If the wind is up, he’s wingfoiling. When it’s glassy, he’s prone foiling. Recently, he has been hooked on parawinging. “These last few months, I’ve been parawinging a lot,” he explains. “It’s a mix of wing and prone. You sail until you pack the wing away, and then you’re surfing hands free.”

Style and Approach

His riding style is all about flow and freedom. “I like to carve and really use the foil,” he says. “That’s why I don’t use footstraps anymore. I want to move my feet around the board and get the most out of every turn.” While he loves sharing sessions with friends, Levi admits that most of the time he’s out there on his own. “It’s hard to find someone as excited as me to go to the water every day.”

Levi’s Quiver

To match his variety of sessions, Levi has built a quiver that covers every condition. For prone foiling he rides the ROCK’N’ROLL 27L, a compact board that makes it easy to pump and link waves. For wingfoiling he uses the ROCK’N’ROLL 47L, just enough volume to get him up and riding without feeling oversized. He also keeps a WALTZ for SUP foiling and light-wind parawinging days. On the wing side, his go-to choices are the TOPSPIN and parawing the ROGER.

The Biggest Challenges

With so many disciplines to master, we asked Levi which was the hardest to learn. “SUP foiling downwind is super challenging, especially getting up on the bumps outside,” he says. “And prone foiling can also be really tough when the waves aren’t mellow.” The difficulty doesn’t discourage him though. Levi thrives on challenges, always looking for ways to refine his technique and discover new lines on the foil.

Dream Sessions

When asked about his dream session, Levi’s imagination travels far beyond Brazil. “I think Chicama would be a dream. Those long, endless waves. And in Indonesia, there’s a spot beside Lance’s Right in the Mentawais that I always dreamed to prone foil. Clear water, perfect glassy waves running parallel to the beach… that’s a dream.”

More Than a Sport

For Levi, foiling is more than just a sport. It is a way of connecting with the ocean every single day. Whether he is carving solo down a Brazilian point break or imagining waves on the other side of the world, he brings style, creativity, and passion to every ride.
