At 19 years old, Simon Mille already has a long history on the water. Growing up in Estavayer, Switzerland, he started sailing at the age of nine and is now racing in the 49er fleet.
Alongside his sailing career, Simon discovered wingfoiling two years ago. What started as a way to get on the water more spontaneously soon became another passion — one that combines speed, progression and time shared with friends.
With his home spot just five minutes away by bike, wingfoiling gives Simon the freedom to make the most of every windy day, whether he's chasing speed, pushing his limits or simply riding with his crew.

From Sailing to Wingfoil
Simon discovered wingfoiling two years ago while looking for a sport he could enjoy more spontaneously.
Training in sailing with my partner can be quite demanding logistically, so I started looking for something fun and fast that I could go and ride within 30 minutes with friends. Wingfoiling was perfect for that”.
Living in Estavayer makes things even easier. His home spot is only a five-minute bike ride away, meaning that whenever the conditions are right, getting on the water is never far away.

Chasing the Speed Limit
Simon describes his riding style in a simple way: fast.
He loves pushing the limits alongside his friends, always looking for more speed and better performance on the water.
His usual crew includes David Holenweg, a friend from Estavayer and former Moth racer, Cindy Robert, who is also from Estavayer and familiar with wingfoil racing, as well as ENSIS team rider Dino Loiacono.
And while Simon has only been wingfoiling for two years, his ambitions are already clear: making it into the Gold Fleet on the Wingfoil Racing World Tour.

The Perfect Session
For Simon, a perfect session starts with the right people: a good crew, some fast friends and a bit of healthy competition.
Add a summer evening in Estavayer, 25 knots of south-west wind and a sunset, and you have his ideal session.
Because while racing and performance are important, wingfoiling is also about being able to get on the water, push each other and share the experience.

Simon's ENSIS Setup
For his sessions on the water, Simon's go-to wing quiver is:
It's the perfect setup to focus on what he enjoys most: going fast.

Looking Ahead
With a background in competitive sailing and a growing passion for wingfoil racing, Simon is just getting started.
His advice for young and new riders reflects the same attitude that brought him into the sport:
Don’t be afraid! Go out on the water, ask the people around you and have fun with new friends’’.
We'll be following Simon's journey as he continues pushing his limits and working towards his goal of joining the Gold Fleet on the Wingfoil Racing World Tour.
See you on the water, Simon! 🤙
