Canary Islands: Power, Challenge, and Pure Adrenaline
Sol’s Story:
The ENSIS season started strong with an opening event at Silvaplana, Switzerland, one of Europe’s most distinctive mountain spots. But once the holidays arrived, Sol travelled to the Canary Islands, where Pozo Izquierdo and El Yodo delivered relentless wind and challenging conditions. This is a paradise for those who love a test, with gusts pushing gear and rider to the limit.
Why It’s Special:
Pozo’s powerful winds and rough water demand skill, offering some of Europe’s most exhilarating sessions. It’s a place that invites progression, just watch out for rocky shores as you enter and exit.
Go-To ENSIS Gear:
To master the wind, Sol relied on the Rock’n’Roll 37L board, the Maniac Infinity Ace 690 foil, and Top Spin Ace wings in small sizes up to 4m. The smallest wing made all the difference when the wind cranked up.
Quick Tip for Visitors:
Come prepared: bring your smallest wing and board, and always check the shore for rocks. Getting in and out safely means more water time and less stress.

Greek Islands: Wing Foiling Destination off the Beaten Track
Tina’s Story:
Greece is awash with perfect spots, but the Cyclades (specifically Naxos and Paros) hold a special place for Tina. Entering directly from a sailing boat means open water, fewer crowds, and unforgettable blue tones as the sun hits the sea. There’s a freedom here rarely matched elsewhere.
Why It’s Special:
Remote, uncrowded anchorages are breathtaking, and riding from a boat means you get pure access to ideal conditions and spectacular scenery.
Go-To ENSIS Gear:
Tina favoured her 47L ROCK’N’Roll Pro board coupled with Maniac Infinity Ace foils. Wing choice depended on wind: for strong Cycladic gusts, a compact 3m or even a tiny 2.5m was perfect for jumps and freestyle. A unique insight? The neon highlights on ENSIS wings make them easier to spot, even from a distance, an unexpected safety and style bonus for downwinders or group rides.
Quick Tip for Visitors:
Self-sufficiency is key. Bring your own gear, especially if you plan to foil off the grid. Not every centre offers rental in remote locations.

Catalunya: Iconic Community and Freestyle Energy
Montse’s Story:
Sometimes, the best wing foiling sessions are close to home. For Montse, Sant Pere Pescador is a legendary spot near Barcelona, known for powerful Tramontana winds and a thriving freestyle community. Badalona, with its playful rolling bumps, offers accessible, creative foiling only minutes from city life.
Why It’s Special:
Sant Pere brings together top freestylers and delivers unforgettable conditions for ambitious riders. Badalona’s waves allow experimentation and progression, making every session feel new.
Go-To ENSIS Gear:
Montse changed things up with the Topspin Ace and Parawing, but light wind days made the Waltz board, Maniac Infinity Ace 1390 foil, and Score 5.2 wing the winning combination; perfect for getting airborne in winds as low as 6 knots.
Quick Tip for Visitors:
Wind direction matters, especially at Sant Pere. To stay safe, foil near the river mouth (Gola) for natural shelter and easier access.

Maui: Downwind Dreams & Island Swell
Steve’s Story:
Maui’s north shore remains a mecca for downwinders, even in summer’s lighter swell. Hookipa and Kanaha offer consistent wind and playful bumps year-round, while the Maliko run and Kiehi showcase relentless downwind foiling potential.
Why It’s Special:
Strong summer winds keep things exciting, and this wing foiling destination guarantees dynamic water movement, essential for carving and new tricks.
Go-To ENSIS Gear:
Steve used the 3m Roger Parawing for downwinders and the 3.5m Score for all-round riding; having the right setup is crucial when switching from surf to freestyle.
Quick Tip for Visitors:
Local knowledge matters. Do your research, ask for advice, and respect those who call Maui home: this builds community and keeps everyone safe.

Swiss Alpine Lakes: Homegrown Exploration & Endless Variety
Balz’s Story:
From the wind-driven Silvaplanersee to Vierwaldstättersee and secret mountain lakes, Switzerland is anything but just a winter destination. Balz, with his pedal-powered Surf des Alps project, set out to discover foiling potential where few have ever ridden.
Why It’s Special:
Switzerland’s thermal and mountain winds create world-class conditions amid breathtaking landscapes. Foiling here is unpredictable, a mix of patience, optimism, and readiness to chase the wind at a moment’s notice.
Go-To ENSIS Gear:
The Jive 86 board was Balz’s daily companion, agile and forgiving in variable alpine conditions. Topspin Ace 4m² wings, plus the new Roger parawing, proved reliable in gusty winds where being able to adapt is vital.
Quick Tip for Visitors:
Be patient, trust in your gear, and don’t put faith in forecasts. Swiss winds are famously unpredictable, rewarding those who persevere.

Where Next?
For Sol, the next goal is clear: taking the ENSIS setup to Chile. After experiencing windsurfing there, Sol is determined to return with wing foil gear and ride those famously long, clean waves along Chile’s wild coast. Tina, always curious about new experiences nearby, wants to finally make it to Denmark. “I’ve never been there, even though it’s so close to Germany; maybe soon I’ll be catching a wave at Cold Hawaii.” Montse is already thinking of Mauritius, picturing those incredible reef waves and dreaming of a trip where wave riding takes centre stage.
Steve’s mind is set on Chicama, Peru. “As a goofy footer, scoring a huge reeling left is on my bucket list.” Chicama’s endless, legendary waves are the next logical step for anyone focused on wave riding progression. For Balz, it’s Hood River in Oregon. The idea of foiling in stormy winds is hugely appealing. “The winds and rolling river swell pushing against the current look incredibly appealing.”
Whether crossing oceans or cruising the local lake, foiling is about community, challenge, and curiosity. ENSIS brings together passionate riders, advanced gear, and world-class advice so everyone can push boundaries and explore new horizons.
